Function:
Iva Bazina was born in Zagreb in 1993. She obtained her Master’s degree in Experimental Biology (module: Physiology and Immunobiology) at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb in 2018. In the same year, she was employed as an assistant in the Laboratory for Neurodegenerative Disease Research, Division of Molecular Medicine, at the Ruđer Bošković Institute. As part of this position, she actively participated in the Croatian Science Foundation project "Tff3 protein at the intersection of metabolism and neurodegeneration" and the DAAD project "Systemic impact of Trefoil factor family 3 protein deficiency on tissue integrity", in frame of which she completed a research stay at the Institute of Functional and Clinical Anatomy at the Friedrich –Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. In 2023, she completed the Postgraduate Interdisciplinary University Study Programme in Molecular Biosciences and thus obtained a doctorate in the interdisciplinary field of science, scientific fields: Biology and Basic Medical Sciences. Since January 2024, she has been working as a senior assistant at the Department of Inorganic Chemical Technology and Non-Metals of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology on the Croatian Science Foundation project " Smart drug delivery systems in bone tumour treatment, " led by Associate Professor Anamarija Rogina, PhD. As a project contributor, she involved in the biological validation of smart drug carriers based on chitosan developed within the project.
