For the sixth time, the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) is pleased to announce its prestigious Student Mobility Award. The objective of the award is to promote mobility among European chemical engineering students. The award is presented every two years to the best European students of chemical engineering who have spent one or more semesters studying abroad.
The EFCE Student Mobility Award 2015 will consist of three prizes: 1st Prize: € 2,000; 2nd Prize: € 1,500; 3rd Prize: € 1,000.
The prizes will be awarded during the 10th European Congress of Chemical Engineering / 3rd European Congress of Applied Biotechnology – ECCE10/ECAB3, including EPIC 2015, which will be held in Nice, France, from 26 September to 1 October 2015. The prize-winners will be invited to the congress including a travel grant of up to € 500.
All students who are citizens of a European country in which EFCE is represented can apply for the EFCE Student Mobility Award if they have successfully studied for at least one semester (≥ 30 ECTU) in first or second cycle study programmes in chemical engineering in each of two or more different countries.
For details on the application procedure, supporting documentation and download of the application form, please visit the EFCE website at: http://www.efce.info/Student_Mobility_Award.htm
All documents should be submitted in English no later than 2 years after graduation. The deadline for submission of applications is 28 February 2015.

To: Representatives of the EFCE Member Societies, Executive Board members, Working Party and Section Chairs
Dear colleague,
The President of the EFCE is elected according to a procedure described in EFCE statute 5.1. The current President, Professor Richard Darton, will have completed his second term of office on 31st December 2013, and under the statute is not eligible for re-election, since by then he will have served two terms.
It is therefore required that the Executive Board make a proposal for a new President to take office from 1st January 2014, to the General Assembly which will meet for this election and other purposes in the Hague prior to ECCE9 in April 2013.
We are therefore currently asking for nominations of suitable candidates, who can be considered by the Board. It is required, according to the statute that the President shall have experience of Federation activities. You will be aware of the responsibilities of the President (given in the statute), which include chairing meetings and representing the Federation.
We are proud to announce the reestablishment of the EFCE Working Party on Characterization of Particulate Systems (WP ChoPS). The characterization of disperse systems, referred to briefly as particle measuring technology, is a special interdiscpilinary field with a strong physical orientation affiliated to process engineering.
The fields of interest of the reestablished Working Party are:
- particles but also molecular characterisation,
- colloidal chemistry,
- polymer science,
- biotechnology,
- crystallization,
- granulation (fluidized bed),
- particle characterisation usable for modelling (preciseness).
